ASN ROWING · OFFICIAL RECONSTRUCTED REPLAY · JANUARY 1, 1900
Day and Pegler take the Waiheke honours
C&D game used: Swing Swing Together
Women’s two-oar dinghies · Waiheke Regatta · three named crews
Mrs. M. Day and Mrs. J. Pegler take first place in ASN’s Waiheke replay. Miss Dickle Moore and Miss P. Hanna finish second, with Miss Trace and Miss J. Day third, 1½ lengths behind the winner.
The leading crews finish on the same relative space. Day and Pegler already occupied that space; Moore and Hanna moved back onto it on turn 40. Under the adopted finish rule, the stationary crew takes precedence. This is an ordered finish, not a dead heat, and no positive winning margin is invented.

The historical setting
The New Zealand Herald’s January 2 report places the regatta’s pulling events in Arran Bay. The women’s dinghy heading specifies two ladies and boats no longer than 11 feet. The original report also places Day and Pegler first, but its historical finish is source evidence rather than this replay’s result.
This completes one Waiheke rowing race. The wider rowing and dinghy programme remains open. Earlier Lyttelton and Picton results are retained; the owner’s rehearsal remains TEST and is excluded from official totals.
