Los Angeles Lunatics at New York Nukes

New York Nukes (2–0) overturn a twelve-point deficit and withstand a late Los Angeles surge to win 24–22. Los Angeles Lunatics (1–1) lead 12–0 before New York answers; an eighteen-point third quarter gives the Nukes the advantage they need.

Los Angeles scores six points in each of the first two quarters. New York answers before halftime through Tart #24 to trail 12–6, then levels at 12–12 on a defensive touchdown by Fortunato #54. Six conversion points and six accepted-penalty points carry the Nukes ahead 24–12 during the third quarter.

The Lunatics receive four penalty points to close the third at 24–16. Morton #68 scores in the fourth to bring Los Angeles within two, but the Lunatics add no conversion points and New York holds the 24–22 lead to the finish.

Morton #68 receives Los Angeles’s only named offensive touchdown; its other two touchdowns remain team credits. Morton records fourteen named net field spaces. Tart supplies New York’s offensive touchdown. Fortunato adds a sack to his defensive touchdown, and Zumwalt #78 supplies New York’s other sack. Willis #12 records fourteen net field spaces; accepted penalties annul two apparent scores, so neither receives touchdown credit.

New York’s final is twelve touchdown points, six conversion points and six penalty points. Los Angeles finishes with eighteen touchdown points and four penalty points. Penalty awards remain team points, separate from touchdowns and player scoring.
